Room Etiquette

Lama Norlha Rinpoche has arrived! May this week be of great blessing to you and to all sentient beings.

As you know, Lama Norlha Rinpoche will be giving teachings and empowerments all week. To be in the presence of Lama Norlha is to be in the presence of the Buddha, and we must conduct ourselves accordingly.

Basic Shrine Room Etiquette:
Although we tend to be very informal in South Florida, it is always advisable to maintain the Center’s sacred and pure aspects in mind when we attend teachings. The following suggestions should help guide new students:
Leave shoes outside when entering.
Turn off cell phones before entering the Center.
Wear proper attire in the shrine room: no shorts, very short skirts, low-cut tops, etc
Enter quietly so as to not disturb others.
Please do not leave empty cups in shrine room or near Lama Norlha.
Do not wear perfume or fragrances as others may be allergic
Please help us keep an eye on our mascots (Sengay and Travieso). We appreciate your assistance keeping them safe and inside the Center.

Usually a practicing Buddhist will make three half-prostrations in the direction of a shrine after entering, and toward the Lama giving an empowerment. If you don’t know how to do this, nor understand its significance, please ask a member to show you or wait until you feel comfortable doing a prostration.

If you see Lama Norlha Rinpoche in the garden, please refrain from approaching him, he may be in the middle of his own dharma practice.
Finally, Lama Norlha is accompanied this trip by his attendant Tenpa and his translator Lama Jamdron. Please treat them with the same deference and respect as Lama Norlha RInpoche.
